You’ve suffered for some time from violent attacks of migraines, cluster headaches and/or stomach migraines, developed some food intolerance that would also trigger migraines… sometimes you might also get a migraine when you were feeling well and thought you were relaxed or when you just woke up.
Sometimes, you have a headache for days, weeks and then it would explode into a migraine.
That’s what my life was like for 15 years until I got rid of them completely.
My name is Sile O’Broin (that’s Shila), I’m half-Irish and half-Italian and living in Rome, Italy. I am migraine-free.
Once an attack hit me, I knew there was nothing I could do except shut myself off from the world: close myself in my bedroom, with the shutters drawn and wait til the migraine ran its course. I’m single and at least I felt I had the luxury to do that. But I realise that if you are a mother with small children, you can’t really shut yourself off from everything and everyone. I would spend many many weekends like this and sometimes the migraines would get so bad, that I would be hospitalised and on a drip. The amount of money I spent in hospitals and on doctors is close to obscene and I was never any closer to getting rid of them. The pills I was given sometimes had a numbing effect. Most of the time, I threw them up and I just had to sleep off the pain.
This was til 2005, I found a way to take control of them and cure myself naturally. I can eat anything now and when I do feel a headache coming on, I treat it instantly so that it fades away immediately and does not limit me in anyway. Words cannot adequately express how empowering this feels to know that my migraines no longer have a hold over me and that I am back in the driving seat of my life.
Anyone that suffers from migraines knows how they feel when a migraine hits them, the image that springs to my mind is being trapped in a tight cell of a dark personal hell. Well, I’m here to tell you that even though you may not believe me now, *you* do have the key to leave this cell and I’ll show you how.
